The classic Grendizer anime returns with a new project in 2023

Dynamic Planning, owned by manga creator Go Nagai, has announced that Toei Animation’s classic UFO Robot Grendizer series premiered in the mid-1970s has a new project titled Project G slated for release in 2023.

As the third installment in the Mazinger series after Mazinger Z (running from 1972 to 1974) and Great Mazinger (running from 1974 to 1975), the 74-episode UFO Robot Grendizer anime was broadcast in Japan from October 1975 to February 1977 as the anime gained huge popularity. Not only in Japan but also in Europe, the Middle East, South America and other parts of the world. In France in particular, it was reported that anime ratings at broadcast time were 100%.

He hasn’t revealed any other details yet other than that original series creator Nagai-go will serve as executive producer and says in the teaser below, “A new project is about to be launched for Grendizer. The best people in Japan will come together to create an amazing business. Please look forward to it.”

A competition will be held to celebrate the launch of the new project, where it will receive designs for machines and spaceships. The winner will receive a prize of US$10,000 and the winning designs will appear in the new work. Submissions are accepted on the private website

The famous Mazinger series, written and illustrated by Go Nagai, was serialized in the early 1970s in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Mazinger obtained a television anime series that was shown in 1972-1974, consisting of 92 episodes, and achieved a large audience when it was dubbed into several international languages, including Spanish and English.
